The Indomitable Lions will no longer ride in the bus initially chartered for them for the 2021 AFCON. After the scandal that this vehicle with the effigies of the former equipment manufacturer has created, Samuel Eto'o has taken out the checkbook. A couple of days ago pictures of a bus belonging to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon burst on social media and attracted much controversies.
A picture on the bus was seen hosting the former equipment sponsor of the Indomitable Lions. The contract with the former kit provider was terminated some two years ago. A patch of green paint was used to cover the mark of the former kit provider but that did nort solve the problem as the patch was visibly different in colour as the original green.
Ultimately, the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot) has offered a new bus to the national team of his country. This is a big slap in the face for the local authorities, who are constantly involved in scandal after scandal.
The new 70-seater vehicle looks more modern and sophisticated. The brand new bus was handed over to the team's officials. It is painted in the colours of the national flag. On its sides, photos of the national team players shine brightly. Messages such as "Go Lions" and "Let's roar together" can also be seen.
A first big step for the newly elected president of the federation.
Cameroon will open the 2021 African Cup of Nations on 9 January against Burkina Faso.
