AFCON 2021-Group F: Mali finishes first Gambia surprises Tunisia

Tunisia and Gambia accompany Mali in the last 16 of the 2021 African Cup of Nations. Mali takes the lead in group F after its victory over Mauritania. The Gambia offers Tunisia (1-0) and takes the second place. All three teams have qualified for the last 16 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.  Mali finished first in Group F. The Eagles signed their second victory in the group phase. The Malians have overcome Mauritania (2-0), Thursday, January 20. Mali has dominated from start to finish this game.

They even took the lead early on. Massadio Haidara scored the fastest goal of the competition in the second minute. The score remained the same in the first half. And the Eagles multiplied their chances in the second half. They soon scored the second goal. Ibrahima Koné scored his third goal of the tournament from the penalty spot (49th). Mali thus takes the lead in group E with seven points. Gambia (7 pts) and Tunisia (4 pts) finish second and third respectively.

Gambia surprise Tunisia

The Gambia won (1-0) against Tunisia in the last minutes. While the Carthage Eagles were holding on for a draw, Ablie Jallow cooled down Tunisia with a superb shot at the end of the match (90+3). The Scorpions finished second in group F with 7 points. The Scorpions finished second in group F with 7 points and will now play in the last 16 for their first participation. The Carthage Eagles dominated the match. They could even open the score in the 45th minute. The Tunisians obtained a penalty but Seifeddine Jaziri was beaten by the Gambian goalkeeper, Baboucar Gaye. They will finish the match with nine men. Their goalkeeper Ben Mustapha was red-carded at the end of the first half (45+3). The Tunisian team attacked the Gambian camp but struggled to score. Tunisia gets another red card at the end of the match. Hannibal Mejbri is sent off for contesting a decision of the referee. Tunisia is still qualified for the second round of this AFCON.
