Cameroon is in the semi-finals of the AFCON. The Indomitable Lions have easily disposed of Gambia thanks to a brace from Karl Toko-Ekambi.
Cameroon dominate their quarter-final game against The Gambia in the Japoma stadium in Douala. The Indomitable Lions gave Gambia no chance. But in the first half, the Gambians sold their skin dearly. The Cameroonians had to contend with Gambia's solid defense in the first half. Vincent Aboubakar was dangerous in the 13th minute with a superb shot. Collins Fai just missed the target with a superb long-range shot (29th). The Gambian goalkeeper Boubacar Gaye made a great save from Vincent Aboubakar (36th) who failed to concretize a beautiful cross from a close range header. Cameroon could not find a way through and returned to the dressing room with an undesirable goalless draw.
Karl Toko-Ekambi folds the match
Cameroon raises the tone in the second half. The Indomitable Lions attack the Gambian camp as in the first half. A pressure that will pay off. Karl Toko-Ekambi gave Cameroon the lead. The Olympique Lyonnais striker headed a right sided cross from Collins Fai into the net (50'). It took only seven minutes for Toko-Ekambi to score twice from a Martin Hongla left sided cross. The Scorpions tried to react but struggled to break through the Cameroonian defence. The adventure ends for the Gambian team who managed to reach the quarterfinals for the first time. Cameroon will face either Morocco or Egypt in the semi-finals.
