African Football League: Esperance Tunis and Wydad through to the semi-finals

Esperance Tunis and Wydad Casablanca have qualified for the semi-finals of the African Football League. The Tunisians and Moroccans respectively saw off TP Mazembe and Enyimba in the second leg of their quarter-final on Wednesday October 26.

Mazembe succumb in Rades

Esperance Tunis did it. After losing the first leg of their African Football League quarter-final to TP Mazembe (0-1), the Sang et Or rectified the situation at home to win the second leg and qualify (3-0). It took a while for the Tunisians to come to grips with the situation. Faced with a Congolese side who had come to fight for their lives, they had to wait until the final moments before half-time for Ouahabi to open the scoring (45th). Oussema Bouguerra scored the goal that changed everything for EST at the start of the last quarter of an hour (76th). The Mazembe players were forced to give themselves away in order to score, and conceded a final goal with a header from Tougai (86th), which definitively sealed the outcome of the game. The Tunisians now advance to the semi-finals, where they will face Wydad Casablanca.

WAC too strong for Enyimba

As usual, Wydad Casablanca were on top form.Following their victory over Enyimba in the first leg of the African Football League quarter-finals, the Moroccan side definitively confirmed their place in the semi-finals by once again overcoming the Nigerians in the second leg (3-0). It was a big win for the Casaouis, who took shape very early on with a quick opening goal from Ayoub El Amloud (4th). This was enough to get them off to the perfect start, before Jamal Harkas' 2nd goal put them firmly in the driving seat (38th). Yahya Attiat-Allah completed the scoring before half-time (43rd). Wydad then took control in the second half to secure their place in the last four.In the other semi-final clash, South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns take on Egypt's Al Ahly. Both matches take place on Sunday, October 29.
