The Moroccan Taoufik Allam won the Dublin Marathon (Ireland) in the men's category on Sunday, October 30. Among the women, the Ethiopian Nigist Muluneh took the best of the competition.
Great performance for Moroccan Taoufik Allam at the Dublin Marathon this Sunday, October 30. The 33-year-old athlete won the race, with a nice time: two hours 11 minutes and 30 seconds. He is two minutes and 29 seconds ahead of his runner-up, the Ethiopian Ashenafi Boja. The third place went to another Ethiopian, Birhanu Teshome (2h14mn26s).
Started on the same pace from the beginning, the trio covered half of the race together without letting go of each other. But at the 30th kilometer, Taoufik Allam will then press on the gas pedal to take a lead of one minute 43 seconds on Ashefani Boja at the 40 kilometer mark.
Well in his element, the Moroccan increases his strides to definitely lose the competition before the last kilometer. It is thus logically that he took the best in this race.
Nigist Muluneh crowned in the women's race
For the women's race, it went to the Ethiopian Nigist Muluneh. The 25-year-old athlete won in 2 hours 28 minutes and 32 seconds. Her compatriot Hawi Alemu Negeri came second with a time of 2h26mn52s.
As a reminder, Sunday's race was the first edition of the Dublin Marathon since 2019, after the event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. More than 25,000 runners were lined up on the starting line.
