Basketball: Kalahari Conference kicks off BAL 2024

Cape Town Tigers (South Africa), Dynamo Basketball Club (Burundi), FUS Rabat Basketball (Morocco) and Petro de Luanda (Angola) will kick off the BAL 2024. The teams, all part of the Kalahari Conference, will meet in South Africa from March 09 to 17.

The BAL (Basketball african league) will again thrill the continent's basketball fans. The 2024 edition opens its doors with the Kalahari Conference, to be held from March 09 to 17 in Pretoria, South Africa. This is the first time that the South African country has hosted BAL matches. The first duel will pit Morocco's FUS Rabat, newcomers to the competition, against Petro de Luanda, finalists in 2022. Kick-off at 2pm GMT.

The other conference novice is Dynamo Basketball Club. However, the Burundians will be hoping to cause a stir. And they'll have the opportunity to shine in front of the world's cameras. Indeed, 214 countries will be broadcasting the BAL 2024, in 17 different languages.

There will be both free and pay channels, including African Union of Broadcasting, American Forces Network (AFN), Canal+, NBA TV, Tencent Video, TSN, TV5 Monde, Visionary TV and Voice of America (VOA), as well as on the NBA app (https://apo-opa.co/4a0Kzz0), NBA.com, BAL.NBA.com and the BAL YouTube channel.

For the other leagues, the BAL 2024 Nile Conference will take place from April 19 to Saturday April 27 at the Hassan Mostafa Sports Complex in Cairo (Egypt). The protagonists will be Al Ahly (Egypt), Al Ahly Benghazi (Libya), Bangui Sporting Club (Central African Republic) and City Oilers (Uganda). Finally, the Sahara Conference will be held from May 4 to 12 at the Dakar Arena (Senegal). Armée Patriotique Rwandaise Basketball (Rwanda), AS Douanes (Senegal), Rivers Hoopers (Nigeria) and US Monastir (Tunisia) will battle it out for qualification. The top two teams from each conference and the two best third-placed teams will travel to the BK Arena in Kigali (Rwanda) for four classification matches followed by eight playoff matches and the finals, from May 24 to June 1, 2024.
