Bryan Mbeumo: King of the Bees but ghost in Cameroon

At Brentford, Bryan Mbeumo is the boss of the attack. The Cameroonian carries the attack, which is without Ivan Toney. The 24-year-old shines in both creative and finishing roles. The Indomitable Lions hope to see him at this level for the 2023 African Cup of Nations...

Bees are led by a queen, but in Brentford there's a king named Bryan Mbeumo. In the absence of Ivan Toney, who has been suspended for illegal betting, the Lebron James look-alike is running the show.

On Saturday 21 October, the Cameroonian proved once again that he is indispensable. The winger first scored before providing an assist in the Bees' 3-0 win over Burnley. Bryan Mbeumo has already scored 5 Premier League goals in 9 games. Last season, the 24-year-old scored 'only' 9 goals. Brentford fans can therefore expect him to break that record before the end of the current campaign.

There is, however, one caveat for Bryan Mbeumo. Between Brentford and Cameroon, it's Dr Bryan and Mister Mbeumo. In 11 appearances for the Indomitable Lions, he has only scored 2 goals. Those two goals came against Mexico in a friendly (2-2, 11 June) and Burundi in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers (3-0, 12 September). During the October gathering, several fans vented their anger at him on social networks.

Be that as it may, Bryan Mbeumo is having a great time with Brentford. The Bees will need him again on Saturday 28 October when they travel to Chelsea, who are gradually returning to their best.
