CAF Awards 2022: Finalists revealed

CAF has unveiled the different finalists for the CAF Awards. There is a lot of people, with especially the presence of Senegalese African champions.

The CAF Awards ceremony is approaching fast. The Confederation of African Football is set to award the best in various categories on July 21 in Morocco. The African body has also unveiled, this Monday 11, the list of finalists.

For the title of best footballer (Ballon d'Or), there are three Senegalese African champions: Sadio Mané (Bayern Munich, ex Liverpool), Edouard Mendy (Chelsea), and Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli).

The list is completed by Riyad Mahrez (Algeria, Manchester City), Karl Toko Ekambi (Cameroon, Olympique Lyonnais), Vincent Aboubacar (Cameroon, Al Nasr), Sebastien Haller (Ivory Coast, Dortmund, ex Ajax), Mohamed Salah (Egypt, Liverpool), Naby Keita (Guinea, Liverpool), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco, Paris Saint-Germain).

If the best player at the CAF Awards will be awaited, the award for the coach of the year will also polarize the attention. Aliou Cissé, Senegalese coach, and Walid Regragui, winner of the CAF Champions League with Wydad, are the big favorites. Pitso Mosimane (ex Al Ahly), Carlos Queiroz (ex Egypt), Tom Saintfiet (Gambia) are also in the running.
