CAF Champions League: Sundowns arrive Cameroon ahead of Cotonsport clash

CAF Champions League: Sundowns arrive Cameroon ahead of Cotonsport clash

12-time DSTV Premier Soccer League (PSL) winners Mamelodi Sundowns have touched down on Cameroonian soil ahead of their crunch TotalEnergies CAF champions league fixture against Cotonsport, billed for Friday 17.

Coach Rhulani Mokwena and his charges arrived at 9:50 local time at the Garoua international airport, and headed straight for the Ribado hotel.

This is the first time Downs will be taking on Cotonsport in the CAF champions league, but the card is building up to be exciting with both teams fancying their chances in a turbocharged group B.

As per the official CAF programme, Bongani Zungu and coach Rulani Mokoena will take part in the pre match presser on Thursday at 4:30 pm (CAT), before the team trains at the Roumde Adjia stadium from 5-6 pm on Thursday.

Mamelodi Sundowns are on an exciting run of 13 games without defeat, not even a draw in that time, registering straight wins.

‘On fire’ Percy Tau clone Cassius Mailula struck at the 25th minute to gift his side a vital win at Loftus Verified against Hilal, which perfectly got the Masandawa craft – lift in this year’s champions league tourney.

Due to Ahly’s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, Coton Sport’s initially scheduled first bout was postponed to March 4.

It is the first time in five years that Cotonsport have regained sight in this competition, and they look to leave an impression. For Downs, it is all about canceling out that bad taste of last season when they were foiled in the quarter-final against Angolan side Petro Luanda.
