CAF Cup: Final sprint for group stages drawn in Cairo

The Confederation of African Football proceeded this Tuesday to the drawing of lots of the round of CAF Cup. 16 matches will be scheduled with the key to qualification for the group stage for the winners of the double confrontation.

The draw for the CAF Cup qualifying round took place in Cairo.

32 teams, 16 fixtures and 16 places in the group stage: it is this Tuesday that the Confederation of African Football proceeded from its headquarters in Cairo to the draw of the CAF Cup qualifying round.

A now classic round that will see the clubs that have won their qualification at the end of the 2nd preliminary round of the competition against those eliminated from the Champions League and reversed in the CAF Cup. And in this game, TP Mazembe had the lucky hand at the time of the draw by inheriting the South Africans of Royal AM FC. After their premature exit from the CAF Champions League the Lubumbashi Crows will try to rectify the situation and move forward. Another Congolese club, Daring Club Motema Pembe will challenge Flambeau du Centre.

Title holders, Renaissance Sportive de Berkane will go to Tunisia. The Moroccans will cross swords with US Monastir for a northern derby that promises to be disputed. AS FAR, another Moroccan representative, will face Malians of Djoliba. Expected to go far in this edition of the CAF Cup, the Tunisian sides CS Sfaxien and Club Africain will face respectively the Togolese ASKO of Kara and the Tanzanians of Young Africans. TP Mazembe will go to South Africa to face Cape Town City.

On the other hand, it will be much more indecisive between Asec Mimosas and SC Gagnoa. The two Ivorian teams will compete for a place in the group stage. Accustomed to meet in the local championship, they will have to raise their level this time to hope to go far in the competition and be part of the 16 winning clubs of these double confrontations that will earn their qualification for the group stage. The first leg will be played on November 2, while the second leg will take place on November 9.
