CAF Cup: USMA-RS Berkane, Zamalek-Dreams Fc, the semi-final line-up

Gone are the CAF Cup quarter-finals, and now it's time for the semi-finals. The semi-final line-ups are set for Sunday April 7. USM Alger will take on RS Berkane (Morocco), while Zamalek (Egypt) will face Dreams FC (Nigeria).

 

Berkane shuddered, but were relieved at the end.

RS Berkane are also through to the semi-finals of the CAF Cup.The Moroccans fell behind to Abu Salim of Libya in the 47th minute. But the RS Berkane players didn't panic and went back to their basics. They pulled level in the 68th minute, before adding another goal 5 minutes later to seal a 3-2 victory in a thrilling final. In the semi-finals, RS Berkane will face USM Alger.

USM take it easy at home

USM Alger sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the CAF Cup on Sunday with a comfortable victory over Rivers United. The Algerians showed their determination early on, opening the scoring in the 37th minute through Malian Abdoulaye Kanou. The Nigerians of Rivers United tried to fight back, but to no avail. It was even USM who made the breakthrough in the 74th minute. It was Abdoulaye Kanou's turn again. After a narrow 0-1 defeat in the first leg in Nigeria, Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido's side made a comeback to reach the semi-finals of the 2023-2024 edition of the CAF Cup.

Zamalek had a tough time of it but went through anyway

Zamalek had a tough time of it but came through. The White Knights were held to a 1-1 draw at home by their compatriots Futur FC. But the point was enough for Portuguese coach Jose Manuel Gomes' players to advance to the semi-finals of the CAF Cup. Zamalek had beaten Future FC 2-1 in the first leg a week ago.In the last four, the White Knights will meet Ghana's Dreams FC.

Dreams FC want to believe all the way

They are one of the surprise teams of the 2023-2024 CAF Cup. The Ghanaians of Dreams FC were not considered to be favourites. We thought it would be a case of one round and then another. But no! Dreams FC beat the odds. Victorious (1-2) in the first leg of their quarter-final a week ago in Bamako, the Ghanaians did the essential at home to Stade Malien. A 1-1 draw was enough for them to book their place in the CAF Cup semi-finals.Dreams FC will face Zamalek of Egypt in the semi-finals.
