Day 2 of the CAF Cup was played on Sunday December 3. USM Alger, Modern Future, Club Africain, RS Berkane and Zamalek were all on top. Poor results for Stade Malien and Rivers United.
Club Africain, solid leaders of Group C
Club Africain have pulled clear in Group C of the CAF Cup. The Tunisians recorded their second victory on Matchday 2 against Académica Lobito (1-3). An away win which puts them comfortably at the top of the standings with 6 points.
In the group's other match, Dream FC overcame Rivers United (2-1). The Ghanaians got their campaign off to a flying start at home. They had lost to Club Africain (2-0) on the first day. With this victory, they move up to 3rd place, level on points with their victim of the day. Next up, the Ghanaian club travel to 4th-placed Academia Lobito, while Rivers United host leaders Club Africain.
USM Alger and Modern Futur lead in Group A
In Group A of the CAF Cup, USM Alger dominated Supersport United away from home (0-2). Saâdi Radouani (5th) and Brahim Benzaza (56th) scored the two Algerian goals. This was USMA's second win in two consecutive matches, and they are now group leaders.
The Algerian club is not, however, alone at the top of the table. They are followed by Modern Future, who also have 6 points. The Egyptian club secured a prestigious away victory over Al-Hilal Benghazi on Matchday 2 (1-2). They had beaten South Africa's Supersport United in their opening game (1-0). USM Alger will host Modern Future on the next matchday, Sunday December 10 at 7pm GMT.
Zamalek show of strength against Co Coyah
Zamalek SC made short work of Co Coyah. The mythical Egyptian club won comfortably away from home (0-4). Ahmed Sayed "Zico" (8th) and Shikabala (30th) gave their team the lead until the break. After the break, Zamalek added to their lead thanks to Seifeddine Jaziri (51st) and Ibrahima Ndiaye (75th). A victory that propels the Egyptians to the top of Group B.
In the same group, Abu Salam beat Sagrada Esperança (1-0) thanks to Abdulmunem Aleiyan. The Libyan midfielder scored a late winner (88th) to set his team free.Abu Salem are back on track thanks to this victory.They had lost to Zamalek (1-0) on the first day of the CAF Cup.
RSB Berkane go it alone
This is one of the teams to have made a clean sweep of the first two days. Renaissance Sportive de Berkane won 1-2 at Stade Malien thanks to a brace from Senegalese striker Paul Bassène.The Moroccan club is now alone at the top of the table with 6 points. Stade Malien remain 2nd despite Sekhukhune United's 2-1 victory over Les Diables Rouges.
