The General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Véron Mosengo-Omba has arrived in Arusha, Tanzania to attend the Annual General Assembly of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA).
Mosengo-Omba arrived on Thursday ahead of the Assembly which takes place today Friday at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel.
“We invited the CAF General Secretary and we are happy that he has arrived to grace the Assembly,” Auka Gecheo, the CECAFA Executive Director told Sports News Africa.
It will be the second time Mosengo-Omba attends a CECAFA Assembly. Last year the CAF General Secretary together with the CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe attended the CECAFA Extra Ordinary General Assembly held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in August in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Assembly today to be chaired by the CECAFA President, Wallace Karia will discuss several issues including the 2022 calendar.
Some of the tournaments that the Assembly is expected to discuss for the 2022 season include; AFCON U-17 qualifiers, AFCON U-20 qualifiers, CECAFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers, Pan African School Cup qualifiers, CECAFA Women’s Senior Championships, CECAFA Kagame Cup and the CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup.
The CECAFA membership consists of Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Zanzibar, South Sudan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti, Rwanda and Burundi.
