The suitors to buy Chelsea FC are lining up at Roman Abramovich's door. The British sports media Sky Sports has revealed that the future ex-owner of the English club has already received no less than ten takeover proposals. One of them was made by the Ghanaian businessman Andy Owusu. The latter has made public, on Wednesday 9 March, the offer he made to the Russian oligarch.
"My official offer is 3.1 billion dollars (2.8 billion euros)," Owusu wrote in a letter to the current owner of Edouard Mendy's team. While the Ghanaian businessman is still awaiting a response, his offer is far lower than what the Russian oligarch would demand to sell his club. According to Sky Sports, Abramovich is expecting at least £3 billion (€3.6 billion).
According to Reuters, the Russian tycoon has already turned down a €3 billion offer from Swiss millionaire Hanjörg Wyss.
