After arriving at Chelsea this summer, Nicolas Jackson is making his mark on the front line. Following his two goals in the build-up to the game, the Senegalese striker opened his Premier League account against Luton Town (3-0) on Friday August 25. A convincing debut that has delighted his coach, Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentinian technician played a decisive role in the Senegalese's arrival, especially as the player was keen to join AC Milan. This information was revealed by his representative, Diomansy Kamara, on Canal+ Sport Afrique's Talent d'Afrique program on Monday August 28.
"We're not surprised (by his Chelsea debut). We've been working with Nicolas Jackson since Senegal. There were quite a few projects that came his way this summer. Everton and Aston Villa were the hottest. AC Milan were also interested. We gave it a lot of thought because he wanted to go to Milan. But once Chelsea made their move...the decision was clear (...) We spoke a lot with (Mauricio) Pochettino. It's worth remembering that it was he who gave Sadio Mané his best chance at Southampton. He likes Senegalese players and the Chelsea project was a long-term one where he (Nicolas Jackson) was guaranteed playing time. After that, you have to make a name for yourself (...) He's showing great promise and this is just the beginning of the story," said the Canal+ consultant.
Nicolas Jackson has committed himself to the London club until June 2031.
