Diamond League: Ese Brume congratulated by the Nigerian authorities

Ese BrumeEse Brume receives a supportive massage from the Nigerian authorities after his 2nd place overall in the Diamond League long jump.

Nigerian athlete Ese Brume came close to winning her first Diamond League title after jumping 6.85m, as did Ivana Vuketa, who eventually took gold. The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, congratulated her on her 2nd place overall in the long jump.

"Ese Brume continues to make us proud. From the Olympics to the Commonwealth Games to the Diamond Leagues, Ese has consistently ranked among the world's top athletes in her sport," he began. "While it's disappointing that she just missed out on the Diamond League title, I want to say that the country remains proud of her achievements. I'm sure she'll bounce back and take her rightful place. I urge her and the other athletes to stay focused as we approach the 2024 Olympic Games," concludes the Minister.

The Nigerian, who finished 4th at the World Championships in Budapest, will console herself with this 2nd place at the Diamond League and, above all, messages of encouragement from her country's authorities.

From the Olympics to the Commonwealth Games, to the Diamond Leagues, Ese has consistently ranked among the top athletes in her sports, globally.

I join millions of Nigerians globally to felicitate with both Tobi Amusan and Ese Brume on their deserved wins at the Diamond League.
