Egypt - Premier League: 10 big signings to keep an eye on

There will be ten players to watch this season in the Egyptian Premier League for the 2023-2024 season. And why? Because their CVs make them undeniably talented.

Ahmed Kendouci (Cleopatra FC)

The Algerian midfielder is set to shine with Cleopatra FC this season in the Egyptian Premier League. That's if he gets enough playing time with his new club. After all, Kendouci (24) failed to make an impact at Ahly with just a handful of appearances. The Algerian joined the Cairo giants in January 2023, but failed to secure a starting berth under coach Marcel Koller last season.

Anthony Modeste (Ahly)

Anthony Modeste, a free agent since leaving Borussia Dortmund in June, is considered one of the most talented players in the Egyptian Premier League this season. With 16 years' experience at the highest level, mainly in the Bundesliga and French Ligue 1, he has a proven goalscoring record. Modeste's arrival fills a void that has plagued Ahly for the past year, notably the lack of firepower in attack. The 35-year-old striker is set to make his debut against Masry on Tuesday, bringing high hopes from the fans.

Baher El-Mohamady (Masry)

The former Ismaily central defender joined Masry this summer following the activation of his 20 million EGP (600 thousand euros) release clause. The 26-year-old defender has been one of the Premier League's most distinguished players in recent years. Baher El-Mohamady (26) will bring composure and strength to Masry's defense. He can play in the center, on the right flank or as a defensive midfielder. He joined Ismaily in 2015.

Emam Ashour (Ahly)

After failing to make the grade in Denmark with FC Midtjylland last season, Emam Ashour (25) is set to relaunch his career in the Egyptian Premier League with Ahly. The main rival of his former club, Zamalek. The midfielder should, however, be a significant addition to the Red Devils' midfield, thanks to his talent and powerful shots. With Zamalel before moving to Denmark, Ashour won back-to-back Premier League titles, notably in 2021 and 2022.

Fiston Mayele (Pyramids FC)

Congolese striker Fiston Mayele has signed a three-year contract with Pyramids FC, making him an invaluable asset to the club. The 29-year-old's career took a remarkable turn when he joined Tanzanian club Young Africans in 2021. He was putting in some impressive performances and proving his goal-scoring ability. The previous season, Mayele had scored 14 goals in all African competitions: seven in the CAF Champions League and seven in the Confederation Cup. With Ramadan Sobhi, Mostafa Fathi and Abdallah El Said behind him, Mayele is well surrounded to explode the stats in the Egyptian Premier League.

Ibrahim Hassan (NBE Club)

The veteran Egyptian winger (32) left Alexandria Ittihad this summer to join NBE. Hassan, who has previously played for Ismaily, Zamalek and Pyramids FC, has amassed an impressive track record in the Egyptian Premier League. In 271 appearances, he scored 29 goals and provided 51 assists. Hassan has also demonstrated his abilities on the continental stage. He played 27 CAF Confederation Cup matches for Pyramids FC and Zamalek. Scoring five goals and providing two assists.

Mahmoud Sabre (ZED FC)

Talented attacking midfielder Saber has joined ZED FC for the upcoming Egyptian Premier League season. The 22-year-old midfielder has made a huge impact with Egypt U-23s, leading them to the Paris 2024 Olympics and finishing runner-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The newly-promoted club has secured Sabre's services on loan from Pyramids FC.

Mohmed Reda "Bobo" (Pyramids FC)

Bobo joins Pyramids FC this summer after an impressive season with Modern Future FC. A talented box-to-box midfielder. The 23-year-old earned his first call-up to the Egyptian national team in June 2023. He made his debut in a friendly against South Sudan. His arrival at Pyramids FC has raised the hopes of the team, who are now eyeing the Egyptian Premier League title and the CAF Champions League.

Réda Selim (Ahly) Reda Selim (23) joins Ahly from FAR Rabat.

Since making his debut with the team in the African Super Cup, Selim has caught the eye of fans with his skills and sheer volume of play. Last season, Selim played a crucial role in helping FAR Rabat win the Moroccan league title, their first since 2008. He scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists. Selim made 114 appearances for FAR Rabat throughout his career, scoring 32 goals and providing 26 assists in all competitions. All that remains now is to conquer the Egyptian Premier League.

Salah Basha (Pharco FC)

Salah Basha, captain of the Egyptian Under-20 team, recently joined Pharco FC.He joins from Italian Serie C club Giugliano. The 20-year-old striker, who previously played for Udinese's Under-19 team, joined Pharco on the last day of the Egyptian summer mercato.
