Faris Moumbagna makes stunning entrance against Clermont

Faris Moumbagna made a major contribution to Olympique de Marseille's crushing 1-5 victory over Clermont on Saturday March 2. The Cameroon striker, who came on as a substitute (75th), grabbed a goal and an assist. His performance makes him Sport News Africa's MVP of the weekend.

Olympique de Marseille came out on top against Clermont in Ligue 1 on Saturday March 2. Faris Moumbagna played a key role in the club's crushing victory. Entered in the 75th minute, the young Cameroonian striker wasted no time in making his presence felt.

Starting in his own half, the Indomitable Lion made a run of over 40 meters before feeding Luis Enrique. The Brazilian winger took the cross back beautifully to put his team ahead (1-4). Then it was Faris Moumbagna's turn to score. Served on the edge of the penalty area by Ismaïla Sarr, the Cameroonian unleashed a low shot past Clermont keeper Mory Diaw (90+2).

The 23-year-old striker notched up a goal and an assist in just 12 minutes. It was also his 2nd goal and first assist in 4 league matches for OM. An almost successful debut for the player who arrived last January from Bodø/Glimt, Norway. The Cameroon international is delighted, but remains humble and focused.

"There are a lot of smiles because we've won, and it's good for the group to win again. Especially away from home. We have to stay in that spirit. By remaining humble and continuing to work.A decisive pass and a goal, that's good. When you're lucky enough to get on the pitch, you do your utmost to help the team. Nothing has really changed, the results come because we concentrate on the little details. Competition is normal, everyone gives their best. Whether you're starting out or coming in, you have to do your job on the pitch for the team," he confided in the mixed zone after the game against Clermont.
