From a recent voice note circulating, it has been revealed that Fecafoot’s President masterminded Victoria United’s (Opopo) promotion to Cameroon’s top flight based on an agreement he had with the Limbe based club’s President.
Eto’o explained that he engaged to become Fecafoot’s President based on an agreement he had with the Opopo Boss and two other people, and that he will do everything within his powers to instruct the President of the referees’ appointment commission to make sure that Opopo gets the necessary push.
The Fecafoot President even claims that he shares his powers equally with the Opopo President when the latter expressed dissatisfaction to how their agreement was going at a certain points:
“You can’t say you are not happy, you are the President of the Federation so you can’t have such an attitude. Last time when we were in Qatar I told you that you are the President of the Federation but you must be very discrete,” Eto’o told his friend.
Eto blamed the Opopo President for not giving him enough possibilities to use his sledgehammer so that they could accomplish his mission.
“I was informed by the second in command of the referees’ appointment commission who was present in your game(the game against Tonnerre) that ‘what is happening here to your brother’s team(Victoria United) is not normal. The referees are not giving him a chance to win.’ But you are not giving me enough opportunities to hammer these people,” Eto’o said.
Eto’o who had promised the Opopo President to come back to the country as soon as possible and invite the President of the referees appointment commission and give him the necessary orders, was not happy with his friend’s impatience on his distress phone call.
“I have told you that as soon as I am in the country we’ll handle everything. I am still out of the country, as soon as I come back I will call the President because i can’t work directly with referees.”
When the Opopo President threatened to quit, Eto’o reminded him about how he decided to become President:
“You know it’s because of you and two other persons that I decided to become Fecafoot President, so if you decide to quit now then I don’t know what to do next, then it’s not worth it.”
Eto’o reminded the enigmatic Opopo President of his powers which the ordinary man in the street did not know about:
“You know that you have the powers to request that this or that person be suspended, but you can’t enter the field and catch the ball.”
It should be recalled that the Opopo President stopped the game against Tonnerre by taking the ball and he was given a smoke screen match ban and a fine of 500,000 FCFA in what otherwise would have led to a more serious sanction like we saw against Stade of Bertoua and Lausanne of Yaoundé whose supporters were guilty of field violence. Both clubs tried to control their fans to no avail.
There have been arbitrary suspension of club officials, Regional and departmental FA bosses and match officials like the respectable Elvis Noupoue for making the right call in a Cup Cameroon game against Colombe of Dja and Lobo whose President Andre Noel Essian is highly suspected to in the “Big Four” circle with Eto’o, the Opopo President and one other person. According to Eto’o these four have the right to decide any ones fate in Cameroon’s football.
“When I come back I will do away with the referee(the referee of the game between Opopo and Tonnerre in Limbe). Just be calm write a technical protest we sanction the referee and give you the three points. Remember to be discret because whatever you do they will start calling me that your brother has done this or that. As soon as I come back I will call the President of the referees’ appointment commission we meet the three of us and see what to do,” Eto’o promised the Victoria United President.
Eto’o even advised the Opopo President to ensure that they are not seen together often because it could raise eyebrows.
“You come over to the office in Yaoundé because I prefer it that way not to raise any suspicion. We have to be discreet. So before I come to meet the Southwest Regional League President in Limbe, we would have discussed and put in place all of our plans.”
Eto’o who has now publicly said he will do away with any Regional President if he gets the call to do so even went as far as asking the Victoria United President if he is happy with the Southwest Regional FA boss, just waiting for the yes or no answer to show him the door.
“Are you happy with your Regional President over there? He has to support you. Because he should even start with suspending the President of the referees commission in the Southwest Region.”
Fortunately and understandably the Opopo President came to Ndazeh’s rescue, which was not seemingly the case between Léon Aime Zang and the member of the “Big Four” in the Centre Region. Zang woke up one morning and saw his sack letter as Regional League President. A clear abuse of power that went unpunished.
The President of the Southwest League of Fecafoot and his collaborators have been reduced to servants of the Opopo President and even call him their godfather for the fear of the worst.
Eto’o confirmed that sanctions and suspensions should be meted out by the Southwest Regional League President and his commissions whenever they deem necessary lawfully or unlawfully which explains why the members of the Southwest Homologation and Disciplinary Commission have been reduced to spineless marionettes to suit the whims and caprices of Eto’o’s friend instead of upholding the laws that govern regional leagues in Cameroon.
Eto’o has prescribed that the President of the referees commission in the Southwest be suspended without any complaints against him just because he wanted to make his friend happy.
Samuel Eto’o, the Cameroon FA President solemnly promised the Opopo President that whatever happens Opopo must be promoted to the top flight championship, a clear confession of match fixing which clearly goes against the rules of the game as prescribed by FIFA and CAF.
“Opopo must be promoted to the first division, that’s our objective”, Eto’o said.
The Opopo President lamented that the referees’ appointment commission President might not have known their mission and that Eto’o should ensure things go according to plan because he was already feeling frustrated.
Eto’o was quick to remind the Opopo President that he could never send referees against him as he was thinking.
“I can never send referees against you. As we are right now, if there are problems we sit down as a family and settle them, I can’t go that far. I will tell you what I am not happy about and we look for a solution.”
This is strange coming from Eto’o when the world has been witness to the public show between him and his former fourth Vice President, Henry Njalla Quan Jr from a confidential letter that the latter sent to the former.
Many are even beginning to believe the rumours that are supposingly propagated by the Opopo President that he can do and undo because Samuel Eto’o owes him close to a billion FCFA.
These revelations have led to tensions between both men who are now blaming each other for putting their secrets to the market place.
Eto’o intentions at Fecafoot are now clear, he came in to protect the interests of his friends and will crush anyone he considers a foe out of the Cameroon football family like he said himself in Yaoundé on Monday July 18, 2023 in a hang picked gathering of hand clapping star blinded amateur club Presidents.
For the global football icon that Eto’o is, it is becoming evident that he has long lost the plot at Fecafoot and to save any little honour that is left in him, should resign from Fecafoot before he is disgraced out of office for match fixing.
