The English Premiere League is already announcing a formidable season ahead as some clubs have already began strengthening their sides with the summer transfer window open.
Nottingham Forest are preparing their return to the English top flight after a 23-year absence. To strengthen their attack, the Foresters have recruited a former Liverpool player. They have signed Nigerian Taiwo Awoniyi, who is coming off a successful season with Union Berlin (20 goals and 5 assists in all competitions).
The English club paid the Germans a cheque for €20 million to acquire the 24-year-old. It is the largest amount spent by Nottingham Forest on a player. "I am very excited to join Nottingham. My aim has always been to play in the Premier League. Forest is a club with a great history," said Taiwo Awoniyi.
A U17 World Cup winner with Nigeria in 2013, Taiwo Awoniyi has never had a chance in England. He has never worn the shirt of the Reds, who recruited him in 2015, after he won the African U20 and U23 titles. He was trained on loan in Belgium and Germany before establishing himself with Union Berlin. With Nottingham Forest, the Super Eagle will try to continue his development.
He will need to replicate his last season's form to ensure at least safety for the newcomers.
