Football - Tanzania: Yanga beat Simba to lift 2022 Charity Shield - Highlights

The head coach of Young Africans SC, Nasreddine Nabi has said that the Charity Shield win against rivals Simba SC marks a good start to the new season.

“It is always good to start the season on a winning note because the players get the motivation from such wins,” added Nabi who guided Young Africans SC to a treble in the 2021/2-22 season.

On Saturday Young Africans SC came from a goal down to beat Simba SC 2-1 in the Charity Shield played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

It was Simba SC who took the lead after 16 minutes when Pape Sakho found the net from a well taken Clatous Chama cross. After recess, Young Africans SC pushed forward before Fiston Mayele netted a brace to make sure his team started the new season on a winning note. The Congolese who finished as Yanga's top scorer last season seems poised for the team's African ambitions this season.

“These games against Simba SC are not easy at all and I want to thank my players for being determined to win the match despite going down. We have proven that we have a good team that can get the results,” added Coach Nabi.

The Young Afrians Coach made it clear that they still have a lot of hard work to do in terms of preparing the team for the NBC Tanzania Premier League and the TotalEnergies Africa Champions League.

“We have signed some new players who also need to fit into the team early enough,” added coach Nabi.
