Morocco - Amine Adli: The Atlas Lion's new dimension

Having enjoyed a fine season with Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 8 goals and providing 8 assists in all competitions, Amine Adli is positioning himself as the man to watch for the Moroccan national team ahead of the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

The season continues to run its course after the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations was won by the host country, Côte d'Ivoire. Expected to be one of the favorites to win the trophy, Morocco's failure to reach the Round of 8 has put pressure on the team that will host the next edition. Certain players, such as Amine Adli, will have to step up to the plate if they are to guide the Atlas Lions to the summit in 2025.

A seamless transition to power

Amine Adli showed his potential on the pitch in Côte d'Ivoire at the African Cup of Nations. With less than a year and a half to go, the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker is no longer the future, but the present. With a goal and an assist in his club's 1-2 victory over Heidenheim on Saturday, February 17, the Atlas Lion has established himself as one of the Bundesliga leaders' key players. With 8 goals and 8 assists in 23 games, the 23-year-old creator has won over his coach, who makes no secret of his importance to the team."Amine Adli is in good condition. We need his energy, his qualities and his deep runs," says Xabi Alonso. This season of blossoming on the world stage is also the beginning of his history with the Moroccan national team.

A staunch defender of Regargui

On his way to winning the Bundesliga with a fantastic season, Amine Adli is well on the way to becoming the new darling of the Moroccan national team. After the elimination, he was quick to take a stance on Walid Regragui's future, wanting him to continue at the helm of the national team."I'm very happy. The whole squad is behind the coach. I don't think there were any questions to ask. He's like a big brother, someone very important to us, a great coach. We're all with him, we appreciate him enormously. Failures happen in soccer. I know that the coach wanted to do something great for all Moroccans. Inchallah, with him and all his staff, we'll come back stronger," he confided to Canal.
