The Reds launched the hostilities in the first minutes of play. Jürgen Klopp's men opened the score thanks to Luis Diaz (5th) on a pass from Mohamed Salah. The Pharaohs' captain, who has 12 assists to his name, is now joint top scorer in the English league with his team-mate Alexander Arnold.
Salah even put an end to a long period of inactivity. He scored the Reds' second goal from a masterful pass from Sadio Mané (22nd). The Senegalese striker also participated in the party. The Lion scored his club's third goal (68th). It was his 14th Premier League goal of the season.
But Anfield also witnessed the resurgence of Mohamed Salah, who scored a brace at the end of the game (85th) and set new records. Salah is finally finding his feet again after a long period without scoring a single goal. He has now scored 22 goals in the Premier League and remains the top scorer in the English league.
With his hat-trick in the first leg, Salah became the first player to score five goals in a single season against the Red Devils. Even better, Salah scored nine times against Manchester United, equalling Steven Gerrard's record. The Egyptian has scored 30 goals in all competitions this season.
Liverpool are currently two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, with 74 points. The Skyblues face Brighton at 7pm GMT on Wednesday 20 April.
