Qatar 2022: Impressive Tunisia gets ‘first African’ point against Denmark

Despite a shower of chances on both sides, Denmark and Tunisia separated goalless before France-Australia on Tuesday evening.

The game wasn’t short of attacking intent with 23 shots, 6 on target but no goals on either side.

Tunisia however did more damage with counterattacks in first period, despite an unfavorable ball possession rate of 38%.

After half-time, the Danes were able to regain the upper hand.

At the end of the match, Andreas Cornelius had the most clear cut chance but couldn’t get enough contact with the ball to direct it goalwards a t the 70th minute.

Jelel Kadri and his men defended with their hearts out in the last 10 minutes plus added on time. Denmark, semi-finalist of the Euro last year, pushed without having that extra bit of success. Up next for Christian Eriksen and co is a game against France on Saturday (5 p.m.).

The Blues now have taken the lead in Group D as they succeed in their entry into the matter this Tuesday evening (8 p.m.) against Australia.

The current World Champions without Benzema, Kante, Pogba managed to come from a goal down to win 4-1. Australia shocked Les Bleus early in the game with the opener, leaving Mbappe and co to chase the game for an equalizer. Adrian Rabiot got it with a header. Olivier Giroud scored twice while Mbappe confirmed his master class status with a fourth goal for France in the second half.
