South Africa fell at home on Saturday, August 13 against New Zealand (23-35) on the occasion of the 2nd day of the Rugby Championship.
No confirmation for South Africa against New Zealand. The Springboks, who beat their opponents last week, lost to the New Zealanders (23-35) this Saturday, August 13. Ian Foster's men thus offer themselves a nice revenge on the world champions. And better, they put an end to their negative dynamic of six games without victory, one year before the World Cup in France.
Faced with the aggressiveness of the Springboks, the All Blacks, determined, never broke. Jostled, they avoided a first try in the 9th minute thanks to a huge collective defense. Carried by this state of mind, they even surprised their opponents around the half-hour mark. The visitors took the lead (15-0) thanks to two tries in five minutes from Sam Cane (28') and Sio Siua Taukeiaho (33'). However, the Springboks came back very quickly in the game. Lukhanyo Am scored just before the break (37') and Handrè Pollard scored a penalty (40+2).
Back to 10-15, South Africa took the game to its account in the second half, but the New Zealanders resisted. A try was first disallowed after a phenomenal breakthrough by Lukhanyo Am (56th), then another one accepted to Mapimpi (20-21, 60th). But the home side went back in front after a new penalty from Handrè Pollard (23-21, 68th). The last word will however go to the All Blacks. David Havili (23-28, 75th) and finally Scott Barrett (23-35, 80th+1) scored two tries to give their team the victory.
