Senegal - Aliou Cissé: "We're not in the midst of a revolution"

Despite the call-ups of young players including Amara Diouf (16) and Mikael Faye (19) for the international window, Senegal coach Aliou Cissé has no intention of parting with any of his key players. The Senegalese technician believes that he will always maintain continuity.

"We're not in a revolution. I'm someone who likes to work with continuity. Since I took over the team until now, we haven't really had a revolution in the dressing room. It's a team that continues to live together and has a collective experience with a lot of competitions. But a selection depends on the form of the moment. We'll see in June how the players arrive, and in what shape they're in. Opening up the dressing room doesn't mean making a revolution. It's a continuous process, adding a lot more qualities to what we already have. The truth is that Senegal has many players all over the world. These matches were an opportunity for us to open up, and we've done that. We'll see what happens in June with the current form. From there, we'll put together a competitive team. But there's a backbone, a core, a spine that everyone knows. We're not here to start a revolution. Above all, we're here to prepare these youngsters, open up the lair to them and give them the opportunity to come and integrate and continue the work," declared the 2021 African champion at a press conference.

The Lions take on Benin in a friendly match this Tuesday, March 26 at the Licorne stadium.
