Serie A: Bennacer Ballo-Touré and Kessié champions with Milan

AC Milan clinched their 19th Italian league title on Sunday 22 May. The Rossonerri did not tremble on the ground of Sassuolo (3-0) where their fans had come in great numbers. Stefano Pioli's men quickly made the difference.

Olivier Giroud scored twice (17th and 32nd) and the Ivorian Franck Kessié put the Red and Blacks in the driving seat. The Elephants' midfielder, who joined the club in 2017 from Atalanta, thus wins his first league title in Italy. He has scored 6 goals this season in Serie A. This may be his last game with AC Milan. He did not renew his contract which expires in June. Several media outlets have reported that he has reached an agreement with Barca.

Algerian Ismael Bennacer and Senegalese Fodé Ballo-Touré are the other two Africans to win the AC Milan title. Bennacer, who came on just after the break Sunday afternoon, made 31 Serie A appearances this season. The African champion Senegalese remained on the bench. He will have played 10 games in his first season. He is the first Senegalese player to win a championship title in Italy.
