Coach Nasreddine Nabi’s team picked a hard fought 1-0 win away to Mtibwa Sugar FC in a match played on December 31st at the Manungu Complex. Aziz Ki netted the lone goal after 26 minutes.
“This was a very difficult match against Mtibwa Sugar, but we need to keep working hard because the season is still long. We are now going for the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar,” says Young Africans coach Nabi.
Young Africans SC, the reigning champions lead the log with 50 points from 19 matches played, while Simba SC are second with 44 points.
Azam FC maintained their third spot on the log after humbling Mbeya City FC 6-1 in a match played on Saturday at their Azam Complex.
Abdul Sopu netted a brace, while Prince Dube, Keneth Muguna, Iddy Nado and Cleophance Mkandala also netted a goal each for Azam FC. Richardson Ng’odya scored the lone goal for the visiting Mbeya City FC.
On December 30th Simba SC also picked a huge 7-1 win against Tanzania Prisons FC in a match played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
New signing Burundian international Saidi Ntibazonkiza together with veteran John Bocco each netted a hat-trick, while defender Shomari Kapombe netted the other. Jeremiah Juma found the net for Tanzania Prisons FC.
Fourth placed Singida Big Stars FC also picked a 2-1 win against visiting Geita Gold FC. Biemes Carno and Bruno Gomes scored for Singida, while Haruna Shamte netted for Geita Gold FC.
Four teams in the Tanzania Premier League Young Africans, Simba SC, Azam FC, Singida Big Stars and Namungo SC will now shift their attention to the Mapinduzi Cup which takes place January 1-13th in Zanzibar.
