Tanzania Premier League side, Simba SC have today signed Brazilian coach Roberto Oliviera 'Robertinho'.
The experienced coach who has handled several teams in Africa penned a two year deal. Last week the Brazilian parted ways with Uganda Premier League reigning champions Vipers SC.
Oliviera had won the League title and helped Vipers SC qualify for the first time for the group stage of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
Interestingly Oliveira will now lead Simba Sc to face Vipers SC in the group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League with the first match being on February 25th at the St. Mary's Stadium in Uganda.
“I am happy to be here and my target is to create a strong team which can win the champions League trophy,” said the new coach during his unveiling in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
He made it clear that since he loves attacking football he will instill it to the team straight away. Simba SC announced that the new coach will work with assistant coaches Juma Mgunda and Selemani Matola.
He is expected to join the team in Zanzibar where Simba SC will kick start their defence of the Mapinduzi Cup.
The new coach takes over Simba SC when they are in second place in the Tanzania Premier League, six points behind arch rivals and reigning champions Young Africans SC who have 50 points after 19 matches played.
With Uganda’s Vipers SC, Oliviera was in-charge of 57 games, winning 43, drawing 9 and only lost six. He guided Vipers SC to the group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League where they eliminated former champions TP Mazembe on penalties in Lubumbashi, DR Congo.
