Tanzania’s Simba SC target maximum points away to ASEC in CAF Confederation Cup

Simba SC head coach Pablo Franco Martin has said they are hungry to pick maximum points away to ASEC to qualify for the quarter final stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

The Cote d’Ivoire side will host Group D table leaders Simba SC on Sunday in Benin.

ASEC cannot host the match at home because their stadium is undergoing major renovations in preparation for the upcoming TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.

We need to go ready to play our best to get maximum points to qualify for the next stage. We are aware it will not be an easy match, but the team is prepared,” added the Simba coach.

Simba SC who have registered two wins, a draw and one defeat currently lead Group D with 7 points, while ASEC are second with six points.

Morocco’s RS Berkane are third with six points and lower goal difference compared to ASEC who have the same number of points. USGN are bottom of the log with 4 points.

The coach maintained that they cannot underrate the ASEC team and this makes the match very tough since every team wants to win. “Although we respect them, we are determined to go out and give our best,” added the coach.

Simba SC are the only team from the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) region that reached the Group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

In the 2020/2021 season Simba SC reached the quarter final stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
