UEFA CL: PSG and Bayern to take a good option?

The first leg of the Champions League Round of 8 continues this Wednesday, February 14, with two fixtures. PSG host Real Sociedad, while Bayern Munich travel to Rome to take on Lazio.Kick-off 8pm GMT.

Following Manchester City and Real Madrid's away victories in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16, PSG and Bayern are expected to do the same this Wednesday.

PSG, who have had a tough time of it in the group phase, welcome Real Sociedad to the Parc des Princes. The Parisians are currently in fine form. Unbeaten in 16 games in all competitions, they comfortably beat Lille on Saturday (3-1), while keeping Mbappé safe. They can therefore look forward with confidence to the Round of 16.

Real Sociedad, on the other hand, are in the doldrums. They have taken just 6 points from their last 6 games, with a defeat at the weekend to Osasuna (0-1), but also in the Basque derby (2-1). The Spanish outfit currently lie 7th in La Liga, 11 points behind the top 4.While the current momentum is clearly not good for the Basque club, PSG will have to play it safe. After all, Real Sociedad flew through the group phase of the UEFA Champions League, beating Inter Milan twice (0-0, 1-1). This match is therefore far from a foregone conclusion for the Parisians.

Lazio vs Bayern

Despite a poor start to the Italian league season, Lazio have put in a good showing in the Champions League group phase, with three wins to their name. Eighth in Serie A, Maurizio Sarri's men recorded an important win on Saturday before facing Bayern Munich. They ended a run of three matches without a win in all competitions, including an Italian Supercup semi-final defeat by Inter Milan.

Opposite them, however, is a formidable opponent. The Bavarians have only recorded one draw in their C1 group. With Bayer Lerverkusen battling it out in the Bundesliga, Bayern have no right to be eliminated in the last 16 of the Champions League. However, Thomas Tuchel will have to do without the injured Coman, Gnabry and Laimer. He will be able to count on Kimmich and Upamecano, who are making their comeback.
