Uganda’s Najjemba joins Kazakhstan Women’s Championship side

Uganda U-20 Women’s national team captain Fauzia Najjemba has signed a two year contract with a Kazakhstan Women’s Championship side.

Najjemba says she is happy to have signed a two year contract with BIIK Shymkent.

“It has always been my wish to play professional football at the top level and my dream is now coming true,” said Najjemba.

Najjemba joins the Kazakhstan Women’s Championship team from FUFA Women’s Premier League side, Kampala Queens FC.

She also captained the Ugandan team that finished second to Ethiopia in the 2021 CECAFA U-20 Women’s Championship where she was top scorer with 11 goals.

Najjemba, the 2021 Ugandan Female footballer of the year becomes the second Ugandan player to join the paid ranks in Kazakhstan. Another Ugandan national team player Fazila Ikwaput played for Biik Kazygurt in 2018.

Juliet Nalukenge, another top Ugandan female player last August also signed for Cypriot First Division outfit Apollon Ladies Football Club in Cyprus.
