Uganda's 17-member team is set for the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) African Senior Athletics Championships.
Dominic Otuchet, President of UAF told Sports News Africa on Friday that they have named a youthful and strong team that should be able to win medals.
“We have left out some of the star runners like Joshua Cheptegei, but picked young and promising athletes who we believe are ready to shine in Mauritius,” added Otuchet.
Sprinter Benson Okot (100m,200m) will captain the men’s team which also has reigning national cross country champion Ali Chebures (10,000m)
The organizers have said 48 African countries have confirmed their attendance in the Championship which will have 45 events lined up on the program.
