The line-ups for the 2nd qualifying round of the CAN Féminine 2024 have been announced.And this last stage before hoping to reach the final phase offers a tough line-up.
Burkina Faso - South Africa
Burkina Faso's Etalons Dames face a tough test in the 2nd qualifying round for the 2024 Women's CAN.They will be up against defending champions South Africa. Burkina Faso booked their ticket with a 3-0 victory over Eswatini in the return leg on Tuesday September 26.
Tanzania - Togo
This is an intriguing encounter between the two teams. Both can qualify for the next WAFCON 2024. But before that happens, both teams need to negotiate their matches well. Tanzania eliminated Côte d'Ivoire (2-0, 4-2 on penalties) after losing the first leg in Abidjan (2-0). Togo, meanwhile, saw off Djibouti. Following their 7-0 win in the first leg, the Togolese women recorded another emphatic 6-0 victory over their modest opponents.
Kenya - Botswana
Kenya were the surprise package of the first round of qualifiers. Kenya won the second leg on penalties (4-3). The Cameroonians had won the first leg 1-0. Their opponents came back from behind in the second leg with the same score.
Ghana - Namibia
The steamroller of this first round qualifiers, Ghana made short work of Rwanda. 7-0 in the first leg, then 5-0 in the return. In the next round, Ghana will face Namibia, who beat Gambia. The Brave Gladiators won both legs (3-2 in the first leg and 2-0 in the return).
Senegal - Egypt
The Lionesses of Senegal struggled to overcome Mozambique, who played both their matches at the home of their Senegalese opponents. After a 1-1 draw, the Senegalese forced their fate in the return leg, winning 2-1. In the next round of the qualifiers, they will face Egypt.
Tunisia - Congo
Unstoppable in two matches, the Tunisians thrashed Niger in the return leg (5-1) after a 5-0 first-leg victory. Tunisia will be the scarecrow for Congo, who eliminated Guinea-Bissau in the 1st round of CAN qualifying.
Nigeria - Cape Verde
The Super Falcons will face Cape Verde in the next round of the Women's CAN 2024.The Iliennes dominated Liberia again (2-3) after a prestigious win in the first leg. Nigeria did not play in the first round due to the withdrawal of Sao-Tomé.
Mali - Guinea
This is the derby of the second round of the 2024 Women's CAN qualifiers. Mali and Guinea are always epic encounters. The women's Syli edged out Mauritius. After their 8-0 win in the first leg, Guinea won again by 3-0.Mali, for their part, eliminated the Central African Republic with two big scores (7-1 in the first leg and 3-0 in the return).
Algeria - Burundi
Burundi have suffered but will be present in the 2nd round of the 2024 Women's AFCON qualifiers. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the Swallows qualified after a penalty shoot-out, following another draw by the same scoreline (1-1, 5-3). They will face Algeria, who eliminated Uganda.
Equatorial Guinea - DR Congo
The RD Congo also advance to the 2nd round of the 2024 Women's CAN qualifiers.After beating Benin 3-0 in the first leg in front of their home crowd, they won the second leg by the same score. Trailing after an early goal by Yolande Gnanmi (5th), they managed to turn the tide in the space of 2 minutes. This was enough time for Merveille Kanjinga to score a vital brace (32nd and 34th).A victory that validates their qualification for the 2nd round.
