Women's AFCON 2022: Gabriel Zabo's job at stake with the Lionesses

Women's AFCON 2022: Gabriel Zabo's job at stake with the Lionesses

Cameroon have drawn their first two games of the group stage of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, but they are far from their best. The Indomitable Lionesses, announced as one of the favorites for the title, will still have to fight to qualify for the knockout phase.

To do so, they have one last match against Tunisia. A game for which the coach, Gabriel Zabo expects a reaction from his players and especially a different face. "I said earlier here after the match against Zambia that Togo would come to play like Zambia. And what is certain is that Tunisia will play like Togo. So it will be up to us to find the key. We dominated Zambia. We dominated Togo today in all aspects but unfortunately we didn't get the result we wanted. So, we must expect a match that is still a bit complicated," said the technician in a press conference, before continuing: "I think that if today, we saw ourselves too well perhaps against Togo, we should see ourselves a bit more ugly is not it, against Tunisia to be able to win. The two teams will meet this Saturday.

The string of unwanted results from the Indomitable Lionesses has showed many question marks on the productivity and influence of the head coach Zabo.

According to reports from some Cameroonian journalists in Morocco, the coach's involvements with the team has been dwindling. Doubts cast over the possibility of Zabo keeping his job as head coach if the team fails to win against Tunisia in their last group game that could see elimination or qualification.
