Jacob Kiplimo is aiming to retain his title in the senior men's race at the Cross-Country World Championships in Belgrade. The Ugandan will be up against his compatriot and great rival Joshua Cheptegei.
Jacob Kiplimo is all set for the World Cross-Country Championships scheduled for March 30 in Belgrade, Serbia. Crowned in Bathurst in the senior men's race, the Ugandan is more determined than ever to retain his title. Once again, he will find Joshua Cheptegei in his path. Kiplimo finished second to Cheptegei at the 2019 World Cross Championships. However, the 23-year-old nugget had exacted revenge on his compatriot last year, who in turn settled for second place."My biggest sporting rival is my compatriot and national team member Joshua Cheptegei," confided the Olympic 5000m bronze medallist in Tokyo.
This year, Jacob Kiplimo has just two main objectives. Gold at the World Cross-Country Championships and the Paris Olympics and his preparations are going rather well. "My preparations are going well. I'm in Kapchorwa, training with my team-mates. We're a group of about 10 to 12 people staying together in our new training camp."
Jacob Kiplimo also talked about his injuries. The latest was the one that prevented her from competing in the World Athletics Championships. The athlete suffered a hamstring injury. A huge blow for the Ugandan. "When I suffer an injury, my head starts to feel stressed. So I try to ask other people for advice, which usually gives me a lot of motivation to recover from my injury", says the world half-marathon champion.
