When Wydad travelled to Botswana's Jwaneng Galaxy this Saturday, February 24, for Matchday 5 of the CAF Champions League, they needed to win if they were to qualify for the quarter-finals. The 2023 finalists did just that, winning 1-0. The only goal of the game came from left-back Badr Gaddarine (45+2). In the standings, the Wydadis are 3rd in Group B (6 pts), behind Simba Sports (2nd, 6 pts) and Asec Mimosas (1st, 11 pts), who played out a draw on Friday.
TP Mazembe, meanwhile, secured their place in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League. In Group A, Les Corbeaux easily beat Egyptian side Pyramids FC 3-0 thanks to goals from Beya (32nd), Likonza (45+1) and Mwamba (90+2). The Congolese lead the group (10 pts), while Mamelodi Sundowns (2nd, 7 pts) travel to Noudhibou FC (3rd, 4 pts).
