After his altercation with Chancel Mbema, Walid Regragui was suspended for four matches, two of which were suspended. However, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation lodged an appeal and the Atlas Lions coach's suspension was finally overturned. This decision has not gone down well with the Congolese Football Federation. Fecofa will be taking the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
"The Royal Moroccan Football Federation lodged an appeal against this decision, and despite the detailed admissions of the said coach, confirmed by images that leave no shadow of a doubt, the Appeal Committee, against all expectations, quite simply annulled the decision dated January 26, 2023. Convinced of the totally unjustified nature of this annulment, the Fédération Congolaise de Football association (FECOFA) announces its intention to bring the case before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), upon receipt of the reasoned decision, in accordance with the provisions in force", reads the official FECOFA press release.
