Cape Verde have secured their place in the quarter-finals of AFCON 2023. The Blue Sharks beat Mauritania in the final minutes thanks to a goal from the penalty spot by Ryan Mendes.Jamiro Monteiro, who played a decisive role in Cape Verde's game, was voted man of the match.
"I'd like to dedicate this prize to Cape Verde and to all the people who support us. It's fantastic, we've taken another step forward, but we haven't shown everything yet. We can still do a lot, but the most important thing is to qualify for the quarter-finals," said the Blue Sharks' number 10.
