Algeria are in a poor position at this year's competition, having drawn 2 of their opening 2 matches. As a result, the Fennecs occupy 3rd place in Group D.The Algerians need to win to qualify for the last 8. Asked about this position, midfielder Adam Ounas is not overly alarmed ahead of the decisive match against Cape Verde on Monday January 21.
He points to the example of Senegal at the AFCON 2021 at this stage. "We're optimistic despite the draw (against Burkina). We created 3 chances and scored 2, and we controlled the match in the final minutes. That way, we'll win the next game.Senegal experienced the same situation at the previous edition when they qualified with difficulty for the last 16 and eventually won the title," he recalls.
He continues:"The Senegalese team finished the group phase with 5 points, but went on to win the title. We have to do our best. And we'll do our best to qualify."

« Le football est cruel, nous avons concédé 3 occasions seulement et nous en avons encaissé 2 buts, il faut être plus tranchant devant les buts, rien n'est encore fini, si on met le même état d'esprit, on gagnera face à la Mauritanie
