Sébastien Haller has been ruled out of Côte d'Ivoire's opening game at AFCON 2023 against Guinea Bissau. The Borussia Dortmund striker has suffered an ankle injury, announced Elephants coach Jean-Louis Gasset. "He (Sébastien Haller) won't be in the squad for sure, but there are five days between the first and second game. He'll be doing a lot of work, and we'll see how his ankle reacts," explained the French coach at a press conference on Friday January 12.
Jean-Louis Gasset also confirmed the absence of Simon Adingra, who "had a muscular problem". Both players have resumed training and should be available for the 2nd match against Nigeria on January 18.
