It's not good news for Aliou Cissé and his coaching staff. Boulaye Dia could be out for the AFCON 2023. After coming off injured in the 48th minute of the Salernitana - AC Milan match (2-2), the Senegalese striker suffered a muscle injury. The Salernitana club issued a statement on Tuesday December 26. "US Salernitana 1919 reports that today Boulaye Dia underwent diagnostic tests which revealed a medium-sized muscle lesion affecting the left biceps femoris. The athlete will suffer from this injury for at least four/five weeks, and has already begun the rehabilitation protocol," we read.
With two days to go before the announcement of Senegal's squad list, it is unlikely that Boulaye Dia will play in Côte d'Ivoire, unless coach Aliou Cissé repeats the AFCON 2021 trick of calling up Ismaïla Sarr, who was available during the direct elimination phases.
