The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) is looking for a successor to Djamel Belmadi. The body can count on one candidate: Bernard Casoni. The French technician, who previously coached Mouloudia Club Alger, would love to lead the Fennecs. He told Naïm Beneddra, editor-in-chief of Goal France. "I have very fond memories of Algeria. It would be an honor to coach the Greens. I've done things in the Maghreb and I know the locals. I have assets that others don't have. There's potential in Algeria," he said on the phone. He continued: "What about the pressure of the job? When you've played for MCA and OM, you're ready for anything (...) The national team is a human adventure. You want to experience great moments. There's a lot of passion in Algeria.
In this interview, Bernard Casoni returned to the subject of Algeria's fiasco at the AFCON 2023, with a first-round elimination. "Algeria's failure at the AFCON? They won it in 2019 and it's not easy to get back into the fight. Maybe there were parameters that meant... It's not always obvious. But we must remain measured in our comments about Djamel Belmadi.
