The former Raja Casablanca star was instrumental in helping Al Ain reach the semi-finals of the Asian Champions League. It was largely thanks to him that the United Arab Emirates club eliminated Al-Nassr in the quarter-finals on Monday March 11.
Soufiane Rahimi, who had already scored the only goal in the first leg (1-0), set his team-mates on their way with a brace (28th and 45th) and when the Saudis came from behind to win 4-3 after extra time, Rahimi proved decisive in the penalty shoot-out.
The Moroccan striker converted Al Ain's first spot-kick attempt, and the Saudis never missed a shot. In contrast, Al Nassr saw Brozovic, Teiles and Otavio miss. Ronaldo was the only one to get a shot off for the Yellow Boys. The Saudis thus lost 4-1 on penalties after a 4-4 aggregate scoreline.
