Béatrice Chebet ended 2023 on a high note. The Kenyan won the Cursa dels Nassos in Barcelona on Sunday December 31, 2023 and the icing on the cake was the 23-year-old's effort to set the world record in the 5,000-meter road race, with a time of 14 minutes and 13 seconds.
She finished ahead of Ethiopian Ejegayehu Taye, 2nd (14 min and 21 seconds) and the other Kenyan, Lilian Kasait Rengeruk, 3rd (14 min and 26 seconds). Béatrice Chebet thus ends a glorious 2023.She finished 3rd in the 5000 m at the World Championships. She also won a gold medal at the World Cross-Country Championships.
