Athletics: Suspension lifted for Amusan at Budapest Worlds

Relief for Tobi Amusan. Provisionally suspended for doping by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), the world champion and world record holder in the 100 m hurdles had her sentence lifted this Thursday August 17, 2023 by the disciplinary tribunal. As a result, the Nigerian will be present at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest (August 19-27).The 26-year-old athlete had been suspended for three anti-doping tracking failures in less than a year.

AIU Director Brett Clothier states that "the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) is disappointed by this decision and will examine the reasoning in detail before deciding whether or not to exercise its right of appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) within the applicable timeframe. The decision is currently confidential but will be published in due course." In the meantime, Tobi Amusan will start his competition this Tuesday August 22nd.
