Just three days after the end of the World Athletics Championships. On Thursday, Zurich hosted the 11th stage of the Diamond League and Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha claimed the only African victory. He won the 5000 m with a time of 12mn46s91. He beat his compatriot Selemon Barega (12mn54s17).
In the women's 3000 m steeplechase, the Kenyans were again beaten. Beatrice Chepkoech (9mn03s70) and Faith Cherotich (9mn07s59) finished behind Bahrain's Winfred Yavi. In the 1500 m, Abel Kipsang only finished third in 3mn30s85.
