For the third time in history, Al Ahly and Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca will face each other in the final of the CAF Champions League. The final will be played over two legs this season.
Trailing twice to Mamelodi Sundowns, Wydad hung on and managed to equalize each time 2-2 to clinch another CAF Champions League final. The Moroccans, defending champions, will meet the same opponent as last season, Al Ahly.
This will be the third time the two teams have faced each other at this stage of the competition after 2017 and 2022. As surprising as it may be, it is the Moroccans who won the two previous finals against the giant Al Ahly.
For the Egyptian side, crowned ten times in the competition, it will be the 6th final in the last 7 editions. Beaten last year by WAC (2-0), the Egyptians have already lost two finals in a row in 2017 and 2018. Will they live the same misfortune? The WAC has, in any case, never won the title twice in a row (1992, 2017, 2022). The fans will be edified on the weekend of June 10-11, a week after the first leg.
