CAF CL - Group D: Zamalek re-enters race after beating Esperance

While everyone expected a victory for Esperance Tunis who could qualify, the deal was quite different on Tuesday, March 7. The Egyptian Zamalek indeed surprised the Tunisians during the 4th day of the CAF Champions League 3-1. A success that took shape in the first half. Gaafar first opened the score for Zamalek (9th) before Ahmed Sayed (29th) doubled the stake on penalty. Benayed (51st) reduced the score for Esperance. Jaziri will nevertheless score the third Egyptian goal in the additional time (90+1).

In the other game of this group, CR Belouizdad beat Al Merreikh 1-0 thanks to Islam Belkhir (35th). As a result, Esperance (9 pts) is still leader of this group D of the CAF Champions League. However, the Algerians of Belouizdad are only three lengths away. The Sudanese Al Merreikh are third (4 pts), tied with Zamalek. Everything remains open in this group.
