Spurred on by their fans, the Dar es Salam outfit tried to get back into the game. They equalised in the 82nd minute with a goal from Fiston Mayele. But the hosts' joy was short-lived. Islam Merili doubled USM Alger's advantage two minutes later (84th). The Algerians thus win the first leg of the final. The return leg is scheduled for Saturday 3 June.
